FOOTBALL CHAMPIONS !
On Wednesday this week, our Girls’ Football Team took part in the League Final v St James’ School, at Whitton Sports Centre in Twickenham.
Nervous and excited, the girls warmed up with coach Dave. Collis had first kick off. Raging with determination, as the sun was beaming down, Phoebe scored the first goal to put Collis in 1-0 lead. Soon after, Phoebe scored again for Collis 2-0. Unfortunately, Collis gave away a penalty and St James scored against Amelie, goalkeeper. 2-1. After 20 minutes half time came.
Sub changes: Ciara for Phoebe and Esme for Mairead. St James started hard and powerful; they hit the post, however the ref gave it a goal. 2-2. Finally Phoebe came on for Esme and Ella and Phoebe worked together like Mario and Luigi. At last Phoebe scored another super goal which made it 3-2. Suddenly St James made a break and scored a great goal. 3-3.
It was Collis’ throw in and with a brilliant throw by Ella (which went about 6 metres) it went into the box. Luckily it deflected off one of St James’ defenders and went into the back of the net. 4-3. Believe it or not Ella took another throw as she ran into the box and volleyed it in the back of the net!
The whistle blew. The crowd went wild! Collis had won! They were Borough Champions !!!
The squad were Ella W, Phoebe, Kitty, Esme, Livie, Ciara, Mairead, Anouk and Amelie.
A special thanks to Dave who volunteered to coach Collis’ Girls’ Football Team and took the girls to victory.
