What is the role of the school governors?

School Governors are actively involved in many areas of school life including monitoring the budget, personnel matters, taking care of premises and ensuring the curriculum is appropriate and in line with statutory regulations. Governors act as ‘critical friends’ to the Headteacher and Leadership Team.

The Governing Body meets twice a term and there are a number of committees with delegated powers who also meet regularly. Any parent of a child registered at Collis School may run for election as a parent governor, make nominations and vote. The website has more detailed information about the role of the school governors and the structure of the Governing Body.
